In Lisbon

English-speaking anxiety coaching in Lisbon.

If you're in Lisbon on a D7, D8, or remote-work visa and the anxiety came with the move — or arrived once the honeymoon faded — this is skills-based, English-language coaching built for exactly that.

Coach, or something else?

Which kind of help you actually need.

A lot of people who search for support in Lisbon aren't sure what they're looking for — and the honest answer depends on what you're carrying. Here's the plain version.

Skills coaching is for people who are functioning but stretched: after-move anxiety, the overthinking loop, the stay-or-go question, sleep that won't settle when pressure rises. It's practical, forward-looking, and skills-based — you leave with tools you keep.

If what you're facing is a diagnosable condition, or rooted in something that needs clinical care, that's a licensed professional's work — a Portuguese-registered psychologist via the Ordem dos Psicólogos (ordemdospsicologos.pt), or your GP through the SNS. Coaching is not a substitute for that, and I'll tell you plainly on a free call if it's what you need. Plenty of people do both.

The Discovery Call exists to sort exactly this — no cost, no commitment, and an honest answer either way.

Across the city

Lisbon expat life isn't one thing.

Where you landed shapes what you're dealing with — the first-year core, the settling-in neighborhoods, the family-stage line towns.

Príncipe Real & Santos

The dense, walkable expat core. The paradox clients name most here: maximum social density, surprising loneliness — a full calendar of acquaintances and almost no one who knew you before Lisbon.

Campo de Ourique & Alvalade

Where expat life moves once Príncipe rents climb — quieter, more residential, more likely to be a settling-in-for-years choice than a first-year one. The stressors shift from novelty to the long questions: is this home now?

Cascais & the line

More family-stage, more international-school, more relocation-package arrival. Often clients navigating Portuguese bureaucracy themselves for the first time, with the gap between the brochure and the reality as its own quiet strain.

What I see most

Three patterns in Lisbon clients.

  • 1. The honeymoon-is-over confusion.First months: the light, the miradouros, the sense you'd cracked life. Months 9–18: the same city, the magic dimmed, and you can't tell if that's a problem with Lisbon or with you. The skill is sitting with that question without prematurely answering it by booking the next move.
  • 2. Loneliness inside a full calendar.Lisbon is social — brunches, coworking, meetups — and still you can feel unmet, because acquaintance density isn't the same as being known. The work is building the specific kind of connection that actually steadies you, not more of the kind that doesn't.
  • 3. Paperwork stress that colors everything.AIMA backlogs, renewals pushed past expiry, the NHR/IFICI change you didn't budget for. I don't touch the file itself — that's a lawyer — but the dread, the catastrophizing, and the avoidance around it are squarely coachable.

Practical

For Lisbon clients specifically.

  • English, online. I don't work in Portuguese; if you'd rather work in Portuguese, I can point you toward colleagues.
  • Time zones fit. Lisbon (WET) is one hour behind my CET. Morning and afternoon sessions both work without forcing odd hours.
  • Invoices your accountant can use. Every payment comes with an official, tax-authority-verified invoice from a registered EU business.
  • Final prices. €122–€150 per 50-min session in a package, €180 on demand — the posted price is what you pay. Not ready for a package? Start with the 90-minute intake on its own, €270, credited in full toward any package if you continue within 30 days.

Frequently asked

Common questions

Is there an English-speaking anxiety coach in Lisbon?
Yes — this practice works with English-speaking clients in Lisbon online, in English. Sessions are skills-based coaching (not clinical care), which suits after-move anxiety, overthinking, isolation, and the stay-or-go question. If you need a Portuguese-registered psychologist, the Ordem dos Psicólogos directory is the place to look, and I'll say so if that's the better fit.
Do you meet in person in Lisbon?
Work is online by default — it's what makes consistent weekly sessions realistic around Lisbon life and US-hours work. Online also means you keep the same coach if you move within Portugal or leave, which matters for a mobile expat life.
I just arrived in Lisbon. Is it too early to start?
No — the pre-move and first-months window is often the best time to install the skills before the patterns settle. The instinct to 'wait until I'm settled' is sometimes the anxious mind postponing useful work.
How do I start?
