In short

Yes, there is an English-speaking anxiety coach who works online with internationals in Germany. Rose Markotic teaches CBT-based anxiety skills by video to clients in Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and elsewhere. It’s structured skills coaching for people who are coping but stretched, not psychotherapy, and the first 20-minute call is free.

Across Germany

Different cities, familiar pressures.

What brought you here, and where you landed, shapes what you’re dealing with.

Berlin

Startups, creative work and a large English-speaking bubble. Easy to arrive, harder to settle: short contracts, apartment hunts and a social life that's busy without being close.

Munich

Corporate, engineering and high living costs. Many internationals here are doing well on paper while running on worry underneath, with family and friends a flight away.

Frankfurt & Hamburg

Finance, consulting, logistics and media. Long hours, high expectations, and the quiet strain of building a life in a second language, even when work is in English.

Common patterns

Three patterns common among internationals here.

  • 1. Paperwork dread. The Bürgeramt appointment, the Ausländerbehörde wait, the letter you haven’t opened. Coaching doesn’t touch the file, but the avoidance and catastrophising around it are very workable.
  • 2. Work stress heading toward burnout.High standards, long hours and no obvious place to put it down. The skills are about noticing the build-up early and changing what you do with it.
  • 3. The long winter and the language wall.Dark months, quiet Sundays and the effort of a second language can make isolation creep in. The work is building routines and connection that actually hold.

Coach, or something else?

Which kind of help you actually need.

This is skills coaching for people who are coping but stretched. It is not psychotherapy and does not address mental illness, which in Germany is the work of licensed professionals. If your anxiety is severe, getting worse, or affecting your ability to work, your Hausarzt (GP) is the usual first step. Rose will say so on the free call if that’s the better fit.

Rose’s path here runs through more than a decade of clinical training and practice — graduate training at Santa Clara University and years inside Dr. David Burns’ TEAM-CBT group at Stanford, the home of the measurement-driven framework.

In a crisis, TelefonSeelsorge is free and open day and night on 0800 111 0 111 or 0800 111 0 222, or call 112 in an emergency. The crisis resources page lists more.
