How it works
Five steps. Fixed scope. Skills you keep.
Coaching here isn't open-ended. Each package is a defined arc — Discovery Call, intake, sessions, practice, review. By the end you have specific tools you didn't have before and a plan for using them without me.
The arc
From first call to last skill.
Every package follows the same five steps. The difference between Reset, Steady, and Transform is depth and time — not structure.
Rose’s path here runs through more than a decade of clinical training and practice — graduate training at Santa Clara University and years inside Dr. David Burns’ TEAM-CBT group at Stanford, the home of the measurement-driven framework.

Discovery Call (free, 20 minutes)
We meet on video. I ask about what's bringing you here. You ask about how the work runs. By the end we know whether this is the right fit — and if it isn't, where to go instead.

Intake session (90 minutes — session one of every package)
Before we meet, you complete a written intake questionnaire — what you want to work on, what you've tried, what's worked and what hasn't. Session one is a 90-minute working session built on it: we review your answers together, map the challenge areas, and turn them into goals and a direction. The plan for the whole package comes out of this session.
- 03
Sessions (50 minutes, by video)
After the intake, each session has the same structure: brief check-in on what you practiced, then one or two specific skills installed or refined, then a clear plan for what to practice before next time. Sessions are 50 minutes; you don't leave at 49 wondering what just happened.
- 04
Practice between sessions
Where the work actually happens. You'll have a small practice plan — a few minutes a day, not hours — plus a written recap after every session so you're never guessing what to practice. On Transform, we add a weekly async check-in between sessions.
- 05
End-of-package review + a written skills guide
Last session is a review. We map what you came in with, what you walk out with, and what the next step is — whether that's nothing (you're set), a smaller follow-up package, or a graduation to working on your own. You leave with a written summary of the skills you installed.
Scope of services
What this is, and isn’t.
This is coaching and educational services — skills practice, not psychotherapy. Not counseling. Not medical care. Not diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition.
If what you need is clinical care — a licensed clinician who can diagnose and treat — that’s a different professional in your jurisdiction. I’ll tell you so on the Discovery Call if I think that’s the right call, and I’ll help you find a starting point.
Coaching is offered only to clients located outside the five US states where I hold a clinical license: California, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, Vermont. Clients in those states are served by my separate licensed therapy practice at getbetterthoughts.com.
Frequently asked
Common questions
- How often are sessions?
- Most clients run weekly for the first half of a package, then move to every other week. We pick the cadence that fits what you can practice between sessions — there's no point installing skills faster than you can integrate them.
- What if I need to reschedule a session?
- More than 24 hours notice: free reschedule. Less than 24 hours: the session counts unless there's a genuine emergency. Sessions are time you've reserved with me; I'm not running a punch-card.
- Do you take insurance?
- No — coaching is private-pay by design. This is a feature, not a bug. No insurance means no diagnosis required, no medical record, no benefits paperwork, and faster sessions because we're not building a clinical case file. Payments through Stripe.
- What if I'm in crisis between sessions?
- Coaching is not crisis care. If you're experiencing a mental health crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline immediately — see our crisis-resources page for country-specific lines. We can address what came up in the next session, but coaching is not a substitute for crisis or clinical care.
- Can I extend the package?
- If you finish Reset and want more, you can move to Steady or book additional sessions on demand, one at a time. I won't sell you more if I don't think more is what you need. Most clients finish their package and don't come back for a while — and that's a successful outcome, not a churn problem.
- What if it's not working?
- We notice that early. The mid-package check-in in Steady and Transform exists for exactly this. If we're not making progress, we either change approach or I refer you to a better fit. I'd rather you find what works than keep you because you've already paid.
Next step
Twenty minutes will tell us if this is the right fit.
The Discovery Call isn’t a coaching session. It’s a straight conversation. If we’re not right, we’ll both know — and I’ll point you somewhere better.
